[홍보] Critical Feminist Interventions in Asia: A Series of Emerging Scholars' Talks (7/23)
[Asian Center for Women’s Studies]
Invitation to "Critical Feminist Interventions in Asia:
A Series of Emerging Scholars' Talks"
Ewha Womans University's Asian Center for Women’s Studies is hosting the first talk in the "Critical Feminist Interventions in Asia: A Series of Emerging Scholars' Talks". This lecture series features recent M.A. and Ph.D. graduates from Asian Women’s Studies and Women’s Studies programs presenting thesis-based research on gender and sexuality in diverse Asian contexts. Their work foregrounds local knowledges, challenges dominant narratives, and, through situated and intersectional perspectives, rethinks gender politics to advance emerging feminist scholarship.
Rewriting the Margins:
Palestinian Women Navigating Identity in South Korea
Speaker: Sima Zayed (Asian Women’s Studies)
Discussant: Ga Young Chung (Professor, UC Davis)
This lecture, the first in the series, explores the lived experiences of Palestinian women in South Korea after the Gaza genocide of October 7, 2023. It examines how they navigate identity, belonging, and activism in a non-Western context, offering one of the first empirical accounts of the Palestinian diaspora in South Korea and contributing to transnational feminist and decolonial scholarship.
