정병문 교수는 이화여자대학교 화학·나노과학과 소속 교수로, 고분자 생체재료를 연구하는 과학자이다. 서울대학교 화학과에서 학사, KAIST 화학과에서 석사, 미국 유타대학교 약학대학 약제학 및 약제화학과 대학원에서 박사학위를 받았으며 새로운 생체재료 및 자극감응성 하이드로젤을 발굴하고 이들을 의약전달시스템, 3차원 세포배양, 그리고 조직공학 등 의학적 응용에 대한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 한국생체재료학회 부회장겸 학회 공식 논문인 Biomaterials Research의 편집위원장을 역임했으며, 한국고분자학회 평의원등으로 활동하고 있다. 현재까지 총 160 여편의 논문을 <Nature>, <Advanced Materials>, <Advanced Functional Materials>, <Biomaterials>, <J. Controlled Release>, <Macromolecules>등 SCI급 국제학술지에 발표하였다. 2026년 기준 이들 논문은 19,137회 피인용되었고 (Google scholar, H-index = 56), 정병문 교수는 매년 Elsevier에서 발표하는 세계 top 2% 과학자에 선정되었다.

Byeogmoon Jeong is a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience at Ewha Womans University. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Seoul National University, M.S. in Chemistry from KAIST, and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, college of Pharmacy from the University of Utah. His research focuses on the development of novel biomaterials and stimuli-responsive hydrogels, and their applications for drug delivery, three-dimensional cell culture, and tissue engineering. He has served as Vice President of the Korean Society for Biomaterials and as Editor-in-Chief of Biomaterials Research, the official journal of the society. He has also been active as a council member of the Polymer Society of Korea. To date, he has published over 160 papers in SCI-indexed international journals, including Nature, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Biomaterials, Journal of Controlled Release, and Macromolecules.   As of 2026, number of citation exceeded 19,137 times (google scholar) with h-index=56. He has been selected among World Top 2% sceintists by Elsevier (https://www.elsevier.com/ko-kr/promotions/worlds-top-researchers).
