Traditional Costume Laboratory

One of the main objectives of the Traditional Costume Laboratory is to research the history of costume. Further our goal is to take a holistic view of traditional costume by examining the roles it plays in Korean culture and society. The Traditional Costume laboratory teaches practical as well as theoretical aspects of traditional costume. Through our education, students are able to develop a high level of expertise in the field. With the theoretical and historical coursework, the lab cultivates experts who are capable of not only restoring traditional costume and ornaments based on research but also creatively re-interpreting the costume according to contemporary society. Finally, the lab also aims to provide the public with proper information on traditional costume. We hope that our efforts will ultimately contribute to the development of culture-related industries by utilizing the knowledge of our traditional costume.
