2024 July Short-term Program Completion Ceremony

The completion ceremony for the 2024 July short-term program was held at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22. The ceremony included the viewing of a video highlighting the students' activities over the three weeks, congratulatory remarks on the students’ successful completion from the head of the Korean Language Education Department, Lee Min-Kyung, the presentation of honor certificates and completion certificates, and an opportunity for them to share reflections on the program. Students in the July short-term program engaged in a variety of cultural classes, such as "Making Korean Food," "Creating Calligraphy," and "Learning Taekwondo. The July Short-term Program is a three-week program encompassing Korean language and culture classes. It primarily attracts students seeking intensive Korean language learning experiences during their vacations or holidays. The July short-term program also included students from partner institutions such as The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Russian Online Korean Language School.

2024 Summer Semester Intensive Program Culture Class: Exploring Nami Island

Ewha Language Center at Ewha Womans University organized a ‘Exploring Nami Isaland’ as part of the 2024 Summer Semester Intensive program Korean culture class on Friday, June 21st. Students in the intensive program visited the Song Museum and walked along the Metasequoia Lane and Riverside Oak Path, exploring Nami Island. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious lunch with their homeroom teacher and classmates, followed by free time on Nami Island, having a delightful time. The intensive course at the Ewha Language Center provides diverse and interesting Korean cultural experiences every semester.

2024 Summer Semester Scholarship Award Ceremony

The award ceremony for the summer semester of 2024 took place on June 26th (Wed) for the intensive program scholarships. A total of 8 students were selected as recipients, all of whom had achieved the highest grades in their respective classes during the spring semester. The ceremony was attended by Director Park Sun-hee, Deputy Director Choo Jeong-ah, and the class professors, who congratulated the scholarship recipients. The ceremony included congratulatory remarks from Director Park Sun-hee, presentation of the scholarship certificates, speeches from the recipients, and a commemorative photo session. There were presentations of scholarship students. The students' speeches not only showcased their proficiency in speaking Korean but also impressed the professors who taught them. Each scholarship recipient will receive 50% of their tuition covered by the Korean Language Excellence Scholarship for the intensive program. Ewha Language Center awards academic scholarships to students every semester based on their outstanding performance.

The start of 2024 Summer Intensive semester

2024 Summer Intensive semester commenced on June 7th (Fri), and the special Korean Language Program for TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) preparation will start on June 14th (Fri). Additionally, Short-term programs in July and August, as well as the Ewha International Summer College (1st and 2nd), are scheduled for this semester. The opening ceremony and orientation for the intensive program began with warm greetings and provided students with information about the summer semester schedule, center facilities, and guidance for a safe Korean living experience. In the afternoon, orientation for newly enrolled students, who are starting their Korean language studies at Ewha Womans University Language Center, were conducted based on their mother tongues. Campus tours were also arranged for them. Our intensive program welcomes students from over 30 countries who have come to learn Korean. This summer intensive semester will conclude on August 16th (Fri).

2024 Spring Semester Intensive Program Completion Ceremony

2024 Spring Semester Intensive Program Completion Ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 21st at 12 P.M. The ceremony began with a video screening showcasing the students' activities over the past ten weeks. Following this, the top students from each class were awarded excellence awards, and certificates of course completion were given to those who finished the program. Notably, the 6th level graduates received both diplomas and graduation souvenirs. The ceremony concluded with students sharing their reflections on the program and their future plans, followed by a group photo session. The intensive program students will now enjoy a spring break of approximately two weeks. The Summer semester is set to begin on Thursday, June 7th.

2024 Spring 2nd(April) Short-term Completion Ceremony

Completion ceremony for 2024 Spring 2nd(April) Short-term was held on April 30th(Tue) at 5 p.m. Around 40 students who participated in the April Short-term program spent 3 weeks from April 9th(Tue) learning Korean and experiencing Korean culture. The Korean language classes for the April Short-term program were conducted using the textbook "Essence Ewha Korean," which is designed to make it easier and more enjoyable for learners with a short study period to engage with the language. Additionally, for culture class, students participated activities, such as visiting the Seoul History Museum and decorating eco bags with traditional patterns at Gyeongbokgung Palace, as well as exploring Namsangol Hanok Village and learning traditional etiquette. The completion ceremony began with watching a video showcasing various activities that students participated in during the program. It was followed by a congratulatory speech from Director Park Sun-hee, the presentation of certificates of course completion, and speeches from students sharing their thoughts on completing the course. Ewha Language Center conducts Short-term program twice during the spring semester, in March and April.

2024 Thailand Triam Udom Suksa School Commissioned Program

Ewha Language Center Ewha Womans University operated a 1 week commissioned program with Triam Udom Suksa School from March 25th to March 29th, 2024. Thriam Udom Suksa School is a prestigious high school in Thailand that has adopted Korean as its second language. Students engaged in cultural activities in the morning and had three hours of Korean language classes in the afternoon. Particularly, culture classes were conducted through various experiential activities such as learning K-POP dance, wearing Hanbok and visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace, and trying Korean cuisine, leading to active participation and enthusiastic responses from the students. Additionally, students from Triam Udom Suksa School had opportunities to practice Korean with Ewha Womans University students and talk about Korean university life. The commissioned program concluded with a graduation ceremony on March 29th, 2024.

2024 Spring (March) Short-Term Course Completion Ceremony

The completion ceremony for the short-term course in March 2024 was held on March 27th (Wednesday) at 5 p.m. The March short-term course included around 40 students, including students from Osaka University of Economics and Law, Seinan Gakuin University, and Kobe University. The ceremony began with a video presentation showcasing the students' activities. This was followed by a congratulatory speech from Director Park Sun-hee and the presentation of certificates of completion, as well as speeches from the students sharing their thoughts on completing the course. The short-term course is a program where students learn Korean and experience Korean culture over a period of three weeks.

2024 Spring Semester Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on March 18th (Mon). Eight students were selected as scholarship recipients, each being the top performers in their respective grades. The ceremony was attended by Director Park Sun-hee, Vice Director Choo Jeong-ah, and the class teachers, who congratulated the scholarship recipients. The ceremony included congratulatory remarks from Director Park Sun-hee, presentation of the scholarship certificates, speeches from the recipients, and a commemorative photo session. The students will receive 50% of their tuition fees for the intensive program as Korean Language Excellence Scholarships. Ewha Language Center awards academic excellence scholarships to students every semester.

2024 Spring Semester Korean Language Program Begins

The 2024 Spring Semester at the Ewha Language Center has commenced. The Intensive Course and the March Short-Term Course began on Thursday, March 7th, and the TOPIK Preparation Class started on Monday, March 11th. Additionally, in this semester, an April Short-Term Course and a commissioned course with Triam Udom Suksa School in Thailand will be conducted. The opening ceremony for the Spring Intensive Course took place in each class, with orientation and campus tours for new students held on the first day. Particularly, this semester, 36 government-invited foreign scholarship students, who are scheduled to enter Ewha Womans University undergraduate and graduate schools, are also studying Korean in the Intensive Course. In the Intensive Course at Ewha Language Center, various cultural experience activities such as after-school cultural activities, dance, and exploration clubs are provided for Korean language learners. The Spring Semester Intensive Course will conclude on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024.
