2022 Fall Semester Gathering of Exchange Students

Intensive Program. Students who participated in the meeting were from Toyoeiwa University, Tezukayama Gakuin University, Aichi Shukutoku University, Keisen University, and Konan Women's University. The gathering was held respectively for each institution. Especially the officials of Keisen University and Tezukayama Gakuin University joined the event via the Internet to encourage the students. Students shared their thoughts and experiences about Korean language classes, Ewha student tutors, dormitory, and life in Korea, in addition to their challenges and wishes. The Korean Language Department of ELC holds a gathering with exchange students once a semester. 2022 Fall Intensive Program of After-School Culture Activity

The Ewha Language Center offered after-school culture activities for the Fall Intensive Program students on October 19th and 21st. On the 19th, students tried on Hanbok, the traditional Korean clothing, and on the 21st, they experienced traditional Korean games. Students took an informative explanation of Hanbok and toured the National Folk Museum of Korea, having a quality time by learning Korean culture on food, clothing, and houses. Students who participated in the other activity enjoyed playing folk games, not only Red Light, Green Light, and the Korean flip-flop game, the ones played in 'Squid Game' but also Dong, Dong, Dongdaemun, spinning tops, and hacky sack game. The center provides various cultural activities for Korean Language program students.

2022 September Short-term Program Completion Ceremony

The 2022 September Short-term Program Completion Ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 27th, at 5 pm. The attendees first watched videos of students participating in various activities in the last three weeks, celebrated students receiving honor student awards and certificates of completion, and listened to the congratulatory speech and students’ personal speech about the program completion. Students learned the Korean language four hours a day as well as experienced various campus and Korean cultural activities, such as “Ewha Campus Tour,” “The National Folklore Museum Tour & Arts and Crafts of Korean Paper Lamp,” and “Unhyeongung Palace Education Program on Traditional Korean Etiquettes and Manners.” The ceremony took place as a face-to-face event.

2022 Fall Intensive Program Scholarship Award Ceremony

The 2022 Fall Intensive Program Scholarship Award Ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 20th, at the Ewha Language Center room 101. Honor students of the Intensive Program are a total of eight; two students from each class of levels 1 to 3; one from each of levels 4 to 5. Distinguished guests of Director Lee Eun-Joo, Associate Director Park Mi-Hee, and a faculty attended the ceremony to celebrate the awarded students. A congratulatory speech delivered by Director Lee and acceptance speeches from scholarship students made the event heart-warming and unforgettable. The scholarship covers fifty percent of the tuition. Ewha Language Center awards students who show outstanding performance every semester.

2022 Dae Han-Ewha Commissioned Korean Language Program

Ewha Womans University ran a Dae Han-Ewha Commissioned Korean Language Program from October 31st to November 4th. Program participants took Korean language classes in the morning and had various activities afternoon, including experiencing Korean culture, touring must-visit places, and watching performances. The participants have been studying Korean in Singapore. The program was a chance for them to test their command of the Korean language and find a passion for Korean once again. Ewha Commissioned Korean Language Program offers different sets of activities based on the needs and requirements of Universities overseas and related language institutions and provides them with Korean language classes focused on communication and cultural experiences. All of the classes were face-to-face.

The Opening of 2022 Fall Intensive Korean Language Program

Ewha language center’s fall 2022 semester has just begun. Both the intensive and short-term program started on Wednesday the 7th of September and TOPIK preparation program started on Wednesday the 14th of September. All classes were conducted in person, strictly abiding by COVID-19 disinfection and prevention measures such as social distancing and quarantine guidelines as it was in the summer semester. Also, in the Fall semester, the freshmen orientation and campus tour resumed again, which had been canceled for a while due to COVID-19. The Fall intensive program ends on Monday, 21 November 2022.

Korean Language Training for the 25th invited scholarship students from Overseas Koreans Foundation

Ewha language center has finally been nominated as the official Korean language training institution for the 25th invited scholarship students from Overseas Koreans Foundation. Therefore, a total of 41 students, selected from the Overseas Korean foundation, will gain Korean language training in our center from September 2022 to February 2023. During the period of training, the students will attend language courses (such as the intensive course, TOPIK preparation class, and academic speaking and writing) and participate in a variety of cultural activities. The invited students will enter colleges or graduate schools in Korea after completing this program.

2022 Summer Intensive Program Completion Ceremony

The 2022 Summer Intensive Program Completion Ceremony took place on Thursday, August 18th at 12pm. The ceremony started with videos of students (levels 1 to 6) on the first day of class and continued on to show clips of them taking Korean classes and participating in cultural activities. There was also a clip of level 6 graduates being congratulated. Students received honor student awards and certificates of completion. They congratulated one another and promised to meet again next semester. The summer intensive program was taught in person for 10 weeks, following all COVID-19 prevention guidelines. Fall courses will also be taught in person. The fall intensive program starts Wednesday, September 7th.

2022 University of Texas Commissioned Program

Ewha Womans University Language Center provided Korean language and culture classes to professors of University of Texas at Arlington and elementary school teachers from June 27th to July 22nd, 2022. Participants took morning classes, participated in afternoon culture experience activities and visited tourist attractions and museums as part of the commissioned program. Participants were able to observe elementary school classes, interact with Ewha Womans University students, take Korean culture classes to better understand Korean society and culture. This program was part of the SMILE (Summer Multicultural Institute for Linked Education in Korea) project, which is a project that aims to help participants understand the Korean language and culture so they can apply their knowledge to their classes, ultimately providing multi-cultural students with opportunities to education. Ewha Language Center’s commissioned programs are created when foreign universities or institutions request them. As a result, we provide customized Korean classes that focus on communication and various culture experience activities. The entirety of this program was carried out in person.
