2022 Summer Intensive Program Culture Activity

At Ewha Womans University Language Center, students taking the summer intensive program participated in culture experience activities on July 20th (Wed) and 21st (Thu). They learned about the history and culture of Seoul and made bags with the old map of Seoul printed on them. Students looked around the Seoul Museum of History and listened to an expert of Seoul history explain and drew famous places of Seoul on their bags. These culture experience activities were carried out in-person. At Ewha Womans University Language Center, we provide various opportunities for foreign students to experience Korean culture.

Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony for 2022 Summer Intensive Korean Program

Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony for 2022 Summer Intensive Korean Program took place on Thursday, June 23rd. Students who have been selected as honors students are 8 in total and the top of their class. Director Lee Eun-joo. Associate Director Park Mi-hee and teachers from the Departmen of Korean Education attended the ceremony to celebrate the honors students. The ceremony consisted of a congratulatory speech by Director Lee Eun-joo, acceptance speeches of the honors students and a photo session. Students will receive 50% of their intensive program tuition as 'Korean Proficiency Scholarship'. Ewha Womans University Ewha Language Center awards honors students with scholarships every semester. j

Opening Ceremony of 2022 Summer Intensive Korean Program

Ewha Language Center's summer semester has started. For intensive programs, online and offline classes began on June 9th(Thur), and Korean Special Course(TOPIK course) started on June 13th(Mon). In this summer semester, short-term classes for July and August, Ewha International Summer College, and consignment courses for the University of Texas are scheduled as well. Since the summer semester courses are face-to-face classes, the opening ceremony was also held offline. Students greeted their classmates in their classrooms, and teachers announced summer semester schedules, school facilities, and tips to maintain a healthy life in Korea. Students from 31 countries worldwide are participating in our offline intensive course. The summer semester intensive course ends on August 18th.

Completion Ceremony for 2022 Spring Intensive Korean Program

The intensive course completion ceremony for the 2022 spring semester graduates was held on May 25th(Thur) at 12:00. For the first five weeks of the semester, classes were conducted online, and for the latter half, students had a chance to participate in face-to-face classes. Therefore, the ceremonial event was also conducted offline. At the completion ceremony, students had an opportunity to watch a short clip showing activities of students from level 1 to level 6 and received honors awards and certificates of completion. Level 6 graduates received both completion certificates and graduation souvenirs. After that, students had a chance to share their feelings about completion and present their plans for the future. Graduates congratulated each other and expressed their gratitude to teachers. The summer intensive course will be conducted face to face. The summer intensive course starts on June 9th(Fri).

2022 Spring Intensive Program Cultural class

Students attending the Korean intensive language program at ELC(Ewha Language Center) enjoyed a cultural program of "Making Calligraphy Pouch" on April 22. This program took place from 11A.M to 1 P.M. The first and second session was titled "Introducing and Practicing Korean Calligraphy" and "Making Student's Pouch." After watching a short introduction video, students wrote down various Korean characters on paper using a calligraphy brush pen. After that, students had a chance to decorate their pouch with Korean characters and pictures that they liked. Since these students came to Seoul to learn the Korean language, this event was meaningful because they had a chance to write down beautiful words and cheering messages in Korean. This cultural class went face-to-face in each classroom. ELC's Korean intensive language program has switched to face-to-face classes on April 18(Mon).

2022 Spring Intensive Program After-school Cultural Activities: Making Hoppae

Ewha Womans University Language Center conducted a cultural experience called "Making Hoppae" using Zoom on April 15th (Fri) for students in level 5-6 of the spring intensive program. The cultural experience was first examined by audiovisual classes and exhibition viewing of Hanyang, the capital of the Joseon Dynasty, followed by activities to make hoppae, which were identification cards of the Joseon Dynasty and Korean discussion activities on national identification cards. 2022 Spring Ewha Womans University Fair

In early 2022, a briefing session on entering Ewha Womans University's foreign admission department and general graduate school was held in real time on March 22(Tue). The admission briefing session was held by an official from Ewha Womans University's international department for students in intensive program at the Language Center. The 44 students who attended the event were able to hear detailed explanations of the overall contents of the foreign admission screening at Ewha Womans University. The briefing session was held in Korean, English, and Chinese.

After School Cultural Activities of 2022 Spring Intensive Program

Ewha Womans University Language Center held a two-day tour of Gyeonghui Palace using the Zoom on March 21st(Mon) and March 25th(Fri) for students in the spring intensive program and held a cultural activity of decorating the mirror with the dancheong pattern of Gyeonghui Palace. This activity ran from 2pm to 4pm and involved about 40 students who applied in advance. It was an activity of decorating the five-colored dancheong patterns directly in the mirror after listening to a real-time commentary by a cultural commentator on the history and characteristics of Gyeonghui Palace. Although it was conducted in a non-face-to-face manner, students had a meaningful time to feel the beauty of the old palace while looking around Gyeonghui Palace and to learn the meaning of the five-colored dancheong. Ewha Womans University Language Center is conducting various Korean cultural activities for Korean language students.

2022 March Short-Term Program Completion Ceremony

The 2022 March short-term program completion ceremony was held at 5 p.m. on March 25(Fri). Students in each class from grades 1 to 3 received an honor certificate and a certificate of completion and shared their thoughts on completion and future plans. They also shared congratulations with their classmates and thanked their teachers. The March short-term program is an online program that offers Korean and Korean culture classes for three weeks. In particular, Korean cultural classes, which were conducted with "Korean Learning with K-pop," "Korean Learning with K-drama," and "Online Korean Tour," received enthusiastic responses from students. Students from exchange universities Kumamoto Gakuen University, Kobe University, Momoyama Gakuin University, Seinan Gakuin University, Konan Women's University, and Okagakuen University also participated in the short-term program in March. The March short-term program was conducted online using the “Zoom cloud meetings” application.

2022 Spring Semester Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony

The 2022 spring intensive program scholarship certificate award ceremony was held on March 22(Tue). 8 students were selected as scholarship students and they were the best students at each level. Director Lee Eun-joo, Associate Director Park Mi-hee, and teachers from the Korean Language Education Department attended the scholarship award ceremony to congratulate scholarship students. The award ceremony was held with congratulatory remarks by President Lee Eun-joo, congratulatory videos of classroom teachers, presentations of scholarship students, and commemorative photographs. In particular, the video with congratulatory messages from Korean classroom teachers made the award ceremony more touching and heartwarming. Scholarship students will receive 50% of the intensive program tuition as Korean Language Excellence scholarships. Ewha Womans University's Language Center awards Academic Excellence Scholarship to students every semester. The scholarship certificate award ceremony was held online through ZOOM.
