Education-related Projects

ERITS has translated books on interpretation and translation studies from various countries and published them in Korean. It has also been developing interpretation and translation-related textbooks, which will enhance both the quantity and quality of Korea’s interpretation and translation studies. This effort will ultimately serve as the foundation for the growth of interpretation and translation education and research methodologies, which are currently practice-based. In addition, ERITS takes on a leadership role in interpretation and translation education by organizing Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops for trainers, refresher courses for practitioners, non-degree programs and commissioned training programs.

Non-degree Programs

Separate from the degree programs of the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, the non-degree programs provided by ERITS were introduced with the aim of contributing to society by training translation and interpretation professionals needed in various fields. These programs are offered in the following four categories: Business Translation and Interpretation Specialist, Judicial Interpretation Specialist, Legal Translation Specialist, and Patent Translation Specialist. They are operated with the goal of nurturing talents equipped with basic interpretation and translation skills required in various sectors such as government agencies, corporations, public institutions, and social organizations in the era of globalization.

The Business Translation and Interpretation Specialist program educates participants in the fundamentals of interpretation and translation. Graduates who successfully complete the program may be eligible for admission to the Master's program in Translation and Interpretation at the University of New South Wales, Australia.

The Judicial Interpretation Specialist program is a purely public interest educational program designed to contribute to the training of judicial interpretation personnel needed in Korea’s increasingly multicultural society. Its purpose is to produce interpreters capable of providing ethical interpretation in various legal fields, including judicial institutions such as the police, prosecution, courts, and the Ministry of Justice.

The Legal Translation Specialist program focuses on strengthening the professionalism of practicing translators to perform various legal translation tasks accurately. It emphasizes enhancing translation skills based on an understanding of the unique requirements of legal translation.

The Patent Translation Specialist program is an advanced professional translation course where participants learn about topics in major patent fields, including the translation of various patent documents.

The non-degree programs are highly regarded for providing excellent education with the participation of Ewha GSTI’s faculty, professional translators and interpreters among Ewha GSTI alumni, and renowned experts from the field. Commissioned Training Programs

Commissioned Training Programs are customized interpretation and translation training provided according to the needs of the requesting organization. When companies and government agencies request training related to interpretation and translation, we design appropriate training programs through consultation. This not only helps clients acquire the essential interpretation and translation skills but also enhances their overall communication abilities.
